Cerebral microbleeds are age-related bleeds in the brain caused by increasing fragility of small blood vessels. We will be looking at the genes within specific cells around the microbleed to help us understand potential mechanisms that lead to breakdown of vessels. Identifying these genes and their relationships to molecules that are circulating in the blood can aid in the development of biomarkers and potential therapeutics.
